Thomas Louis Walls,

Thomas Louis Walls, age 81, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012.



Mr. Walls was born on September 2, 1930, in Habersham County, Georgia; a son of the late Thomas Floyd and Stella Beard Wall. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Thurmond. Mr. Walls was a graduate of Clarkesville High School and a proud United States Navy Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict on the USS Frank Knox. He was a deacon, trustee, an Adult Sunday School Class teacher, and was the Young Peoples Sunday School Class teacher for 39 years at Habersham Baptist Church. He was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church and the Men's Senior Sunday School Class. He was a retired owner and operator of Louis Walls Contracting Company with 51 years of service.



Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Lois Hill Walls, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Anthony "Rick" and Sharon Walls, Clarkesville, GA; sisters, Ruth Thurmond, Rabun Gap, GA, Katherine Powell, Mt. Airy, GA, and Stella Holbrook, Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Kristin Walls and Astona and Rusty Gragg; and great-grandchildren, Bree, Blythe, and Brennan Walls and Jaxon Gragg.



Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Phillip Yarber, Rev. Walter Singletary, and Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Habersham Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Georgia National Guard.



The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the funeral home.
