"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of his saints" - Psalms 116.15

Everyone who knew Ms. Smith (Ms. Dortha, Mother, Grandmama, Nanny, or Maw) knew that she was the closest thing to a saint to walk this earth. She lived her entire life as a faithful servant to God with dignity, honesty, courage and love. She loved everyone, and always gave more than she had to give. Through many trials and tribulations of her life she never lost faith in God. She was a woman full of wisdom. She witnessed her faith to everyone and taught those around her many lessons by the example of how she lived her life. Ms. Smith always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. She was full of life and brought joy and comfort to many. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. If you were eating at Dortha's, you knew there would be a buffet on the table and it was always going to be good.

Ms. Smith is survived by her son, Harold Smith Jr. and special daughter in law, Jo Ann Smith, daughter Jo Ann Hires, son, Wayne Smith, Sister Elizabeth and Henry Carlyle Jr. and their precious family, grandaughter Janice and Scott Darnell, granddaughter Michelle L. Smith, grandson Jason and Alison Smith, grandson Brian and Jennifer Tarr and grandson Andrew Smith.

Ms. Smith also had 6 great-grandchildren who are all blessed to be old enough to remember how wonderful their Maw was. Kevin Tarr, Brice Darnell, Jacob Smith, Sawyer Smith, Breigh Ann Smith and Sydney Smith. Also surviving is long time dear friend Frances Coronet and a number of nieces, nephews and church family that were all very special to her. She will be dearly missed by all of us, but we take comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in heaven.
