Glenda Rae Voiles, 59 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. A resident of Hall County, Glenda was born in Hiawassee, Georgia.
Glenda worked as a flight attendant for ASA for over fifteen years. She loved meeting new people and visiting new places. She really got to live her dream job that she has envisioned as a child. Glenda also worked in sales for WFOX, WDUN and WGGA Radio. She also worked for the Gainesville Times.
Glenda was a member of Chestatee Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir. Glenda was one elegant lady who always will be remembered for her caring and loving heart for others.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mildred Arrowood. Survivors include her husband, Duane Voiles of Oakwood; son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Chastity Voiles of Gillsville; brothers, Ricky Arrowood, Jerry Arrowood and James Arrowood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jody and Albert Shirley of Hollywood, Jean and Charles Reed of Highlands, NC, Patty and John Tolliver of Tucker, Bobbi and Mike Clancy of Clayton, Donna and Dave Ingemanson of Dalrico, FL, Karen and Ray Hadden of Clearwater, FL.
A home going celebration for Glenda will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Chestatee Baptist Church. The Rev. David Skinner, Rev. Powell Sailors, Rev. William Phillips, Rev. Matt Pruitt and Rev. Cecil Reeves will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will received friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Chestatee Baptist Church Building Fund or to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice.
