Michael Lynn Stryk

Obituary Date: Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Michael Lynn Stryk, 66, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday February 29, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Stryk was born August 1, 1945 in Rosenberg, Texas and graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School after which he attended the University of Houston. He worked for a valve manufacturing company which transferred him to Georgia as an outside sales representative. He also owned a cleaning business and managed a wholesale plumbing company. After his retirement, he continued to work as an independent contractor. Michael's favorite times were spent with family and friends. He always kept his Texas traditions alive, supported his Texas sports teams, and enjoyed antiquing, NASCAR and the beach. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Elliott Stryk; father, Joe Stryk; and his mother in law, Nadine Davis.

Surviving are his children, Desire, of Bonita Springs, FL, Lance and his wife Tina of Callahan, FL; mother, Wilma Stryk, Rosenberg, TX; brothers and sisters in law, Patrick and Eve Stryk, marble Falls, TX, Mark and Debbi Stryk, Richmond, TX; sister and brother in law, Joanie and Roger Rethlake, Richmond, TX; father in law, J. D. Davis, Gainesville; stepdaughter and son in law, Kim and Shane Nicholson, Dahlonega; stepsons and daughter in law, Keith and Christy Elliott, Gainesville, Kevin Elliott, Gainesville; sister in law and brother in law, Lyn and Charlie Lovell, Gainesville; brothers in law, Randall Davis, Flowery Branch, Mike Davis, Gainesville; grandchildren, Kayla Harris, David Harris, Robbie Poole, Megan Poole, Chase Nicholson, Tori Elliott, Amberly Elliott, Kayla Elliott, Bailey Elliott, Gavin Elliott, Tristan Elliott; great grandchildren, Avah Harris, Connor Harris; and special friend, Cheryl Brock, Lawrenceville.

A special thanks goes out to Michael's Hospice nurse, Sherry, who provided the most heartfelt care possible.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday March 3, 2012 at 11 o'clock at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church. Fr. Neil Dahabliwala will officiate. An interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery.
