Doris Allene Ray Gooch

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Doris Allene Ray Gooch, 84, of Jefferson, Ga. who passed away Friday, March 2, 2012.

Mrs. Gooch was born in Athens to the late Hugh Ray and the late Jerusha Allene Bowden Ray Toney. Mrs. Gooch attended Martin Institute in Jefferson and Athens Technical College. Along with being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Gooch was an accomplished painter and enjoyed camping, traveling with her husband and cooking. Mrs. Gooch retired from The Bank of Barrow as a bookkeeper with many years of service. Mrs. Gooch as a long time member at White Plains Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gooch was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Carl Gooch, brothers Alva Ray, Vernard Ray and Lester Toney.

Funeral Services will be Monday March 5, 2012 at 3:00 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tom Plank and Rev. Kevin Purcell officiating. Interment will follow at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday March 4, 2012 at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Sid and Karen Gooch, Olive Branch, Miss., daughter and son in law, Donna and Jeff Wright, Lawrenceville, Ga., son Spurgeon Ray Gooch, Jefferson, Ga., brothers Hollis Ray, Jefferson, Ga., and Lewie Toney Elberton, Ga., 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
