Gunder Morken

Gunder Morken, 63 of Cumming, GA passed away on March 4, 2012. Born in Bergen, Norway he was the son of Jacob K. and Olaug Morken.

November 16, 1950 at the age of 2, Gunder along with his parents and two brothers immigrated to the States finally settling in Vista, CA. In 1966, he officially and proudly became an American citizen.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Insurance from San Diego State University in 1971 and was member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He would later go on to receive his MBA from Georgia State University.

Gunder and his family relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1975 where he established a branch office of Skandia America Reinsurance Corporation. He would go onto have many successful and rewarding years in the Reinsurance Industry. In his later years and into retirement he enjoyed day trading.

His passions in his early years were tennis and fishing at Lake Lanier. In his later years he enjoyed following current events and following the stock market and he always had a love for animals especially his two cats.

He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Heather and Gary DeLapp of Fort Mill, SC and Holly and David Reason of Kennesaw, GA and 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Knut Morken of Napa, CA and Audun Morken of Cumming, GA.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
