Vera Eloise Marcus
Obituary Date: Thursday, March 15, 2012
Vera Eloise Marcus, age 90, passed away March 15, 2012. "Weezie" was from Savannah, GA, but spent the last few years in Anderson, SC and Cumming, GA.
Weezie was born to Morton and Minnie Simmons in Savannah, GA. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Woodcock. She is survived by and dearly loved by her sister, Nita Browne; her children, Carol (Larry) McCatherine and Jim (Mary) Marcus; her grandchildren, Pamela Lewis, Amy Povie, Rebecca Quarterman, Naomi Moore, Sarah Zidaru, Chris Marcus, Gayle McCatherine, and Ross McCatherine and 13 great-grandchildren.
Weezie had more stories than most considering her time married to a soldier and her travels around the world and she loved to tell them. She made friends everywhere she went and truly never met a stranger. She was also a great baker of banana bread, divinity, and all sorts of goodies. She always had a stash on supply during visits. Weezie lived a very simple, unhurried life. We all learned about patience from her, as she had lots of it, especially with the littlest ones. We will miss her smile and her wit, and especially her stories.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 25th at 3:00PM at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming , GA.
