Charles B. (Chuck) Forrest

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Charles B. (Chuck) Forrest, Retired Msgt. US Army, went to be with his Lord & Savior Tues April 10 at NEGMC following complications during surgery. He was born Oct. 26, 1937 in Coal Mtn Ga. To J.B. & Eula Hendrix Forrest He retired from the Army after serving 26 yrs . He had one tour in Viet Nam ,2 tours in Korea and 3 tours in Germany . He was in the communications field, a recruiter in Ca. and First Sgt at Ft Hood, Tx where he was affectionately referred to as TOP. He had many commendations and earned many medals of which he was extremely proud.

After the Army he worked for and retired after 10 yrs as a window clerk at the Gainesville Post Office on Green Street. Many people still recall him serving them at the front window.

Chuck, was proud of his years of service in the military and always kept informed of the changes and could discuss with anybody military history. Chucks, true love of his life has always been his family of whom he was so proud and took every opportunity to get together and celebrate, which we did so many times through the years. He loved cooking out and his specialty and always requested was his eggnog and turkey dressing for the holidays.

Chuck, was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Eula Hendrix Forrest and brothers Kenneth and Gilbert Forrest.

Chuck is survied by his loving wife, Carole Payne Forrest, they met on a blind date Sat. before Easter in 1956 and married Aug 18. 1956 in their teen years and celebrated their 55th anniversary last year. Chuck and Carole are the proud parents of 4 children, son, Brian Forrest of Cleveland , Ga ,Daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn (Denis) Nisbett, Winchester Tn. Denise (Steve) Avery and son and daughter-in-law Bob (Ginger) Forrest of Gainesville. Ga. Grandchildren, Marshall Denis Nisbett, Nichol Avery(Jesse) Hughes, Amy Lenae Forrest, Kristin Avery (Henry) Irvin, Justin Adam Avery, Jennifer Lynn Nisbett, Robin Trice Forrest, Ryan Anthony Avery and Charles Kaelan Forrest. Great grand children Harper Grey Irvin, Stephen Payne Hughes and Jett Ryne Damron, (Jennifer)
Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Virginia (Harry) Trusty, Brenda (Phil) Clowers and Buddy (Susan) Forrest. Carole's brother William Leo Payne, and sisters Claire, Celine and Charlotte, also loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


Papa, left a legacy of love and celebration that will live in our hearts and minds for a lifetime.

Services will be held at 2 P. M. Friday April 13, 2012 from The Chapel of Memorial Park North
Riverside chapel. Entombment will Be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 till 8 P. M. on Thursday April 12,2012

In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Ga.
