James Walter Richards

James Walter Richards, age 88 of Buford, GA died Friday, June 15, 2012 after an extended illness.

Funeral Service will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gerral Richards, Rev. Ron Davidson and Rev. Chuck Allen and will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford. The Family will receive friends Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 5-9 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Richards was preceded in death by Parents, Willie and Ollie Mae Thompson Richards; Sister and Brother In-law, Patricia and Morris Sewell; Brother, Carter Richards. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Montaree Cox Richards; Sons and Daughters In-law, Larry and Janice Richards, Roswell, Fred and Brenda Richards, Buford; Son, Marty Richards, Buford; Grandchildren, Blake and Megan Richards, Heather and Travis Hollingsworth, Brett and Kelly Richards, Tiffany and John Knightenton; Great Grandchildren, Hunter, Ansley, Audrey, Grant, Jack, Will, Drew and Ella; Brothers, Buddy Richards, Lanier Richards, Raymond Richards; Brother and Sister In-law, Gerral and Doris Richards; Sister In-law, Mrs. Carter Richards; Sisters and Brothers In-law, Willie Mae and Jim Warren, Patsy and Calvin Puckett, Martha and Barry Wilkerson and a host of Nieces and Nephews. Also dear friends Donnie and Linda McQuaig and Glad and Ann Sudderth.


Walter was born on Sunday, April 13, 1924 in Forsyth County, Georgia and grew up within 15 miles of where he was born. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sugar Hill, worked for Sears in Atlanta for 22 years until purchasing Buford Florist in 1969 which was the pride and joy of his life.
