Denver "Denny" Ade Martin

Denver "Denny" Ade Martin, age 65, of Cumming, passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

Denver is preceded in death by his parents, Ade and Olive Martin of Canton, GA. Denver was born in Lindsay, Ok, Dec. 29, 1946. He was a Navy veteran and ranked as SFM3 on the USS Snohomish County Lst 1126, serving two tours in Vietnam, 1966- 1970. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Denver moved to GA. and began sprint car racing. At one time, in his #47 car, he held a fastest dirt track record in Anniston, AL.



Denver loved the open road and enjoyed his career as a truck driver. He also enjoyed precious time spent with his family. His family and many friends will forever remember his love for God, his kindness, patience, understanding and sense of humor.



Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Audrey Sutton Martin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Wayne Shelton of Alpharetta, Mary Ann and Lon Brunson of Turlock, CA; children, Lindsay Mills of Spanish Fort, AL., Dawn (Jeff) Miller, Allen Dyer and fiancée Stephanie Bray, Shane (Erica) Dyer all of Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; and other loving relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church at which Denver was a member, with Rev. Jerry Frazier and Rev. Jerry McCormick officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 3 to 9, Friday from 11 to 9 and Saturday, from 9 until the hour of service.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church Youth Group.
