Eugenia Harrison Powel Devereaux

Eugenia Harrison Powel Devereaux, age 93, of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Cumming Manor Nursing Home.

Lovingly know as Grandma Gene by her church family at Parkway Presbyterian Church, she was born August 5, 1919 in Signal Mountain, TN to the late Hugh Walker and Ben Addie Eagar Powel. Mrs. Devereaux attended Westminster Girls' School in Atlanta, GA and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she was a member of AOII Sorority. She was retired from General Electric Credit Corporation where she had worked as a Customer Service Unit Manager. Mrs. Devereaux was a Charter member of Parkway Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and a Deacon. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dean Devereaux; a son, Richard Powel Devereaux and her brothers, Hugh W. Powel and Dr. Charles Powel.

Survivors include her daughter, Dea Harrison Devereaux of Dahlonega, GA, a son, Hugh W. (JoAnn) Devereaux of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren, Jennifer Devereaux (Tim) Segers of Birmingham, AL, Dustin Devereaux and Josh Devereaux, both of Cumming, 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her Parkway Presbyterian family.

A celebration of the life of Eugenia Harrison Powel Devereaux will be held Tuesday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the church and at a reception follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkway Presbyterian Church, 5830 Bethelview Road Cumming, GA 30040 or to Crossroads Hospice of Atlanta, 1957 Lakeside Parkway, Ste. 500, Tucker, GA 30084.
