Garnett "G.C." Clifton Campbell Jr.

Garnett "G.C." Clifton Campbell Jr., age 84 of Clermont, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Campbell was born February 10, 1928 in Jackson County to the late Rev. Garnett Sr. and Ruth Mauldin Campbell. Mr. Campbell graduated Cleveland High School in 1946 and North Georgia Technical and Vocational School in 1955. He was Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War and was a member of Skitts Mountain Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Ellen Autry Campbell, grandson Wayne Ayers and sisters Frances Hicks and Glenda Portner.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Smith Campbell, Clermont; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ron Hart, Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Campbell, Cleveland; Ricky and Marie Campbell, Hull; Larry and Donna Campbell, Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Sam Cole, Cumming; Denise and Tony Newman, Lilburn; Tammie and Mike Kelly, Cumming; brothers, Rev. Donald Campbell, Clarkesville; James Campbell, Social Circle; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ted Roberts, Clarkesville; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2012 at Skitts Mountain Baptist Church. The Rev. Kyle Savage and the Rev. Mike Irvin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 PM Saturday and 2-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
