Elgon Curtis "John" Dockery

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Elgon Curtis "John" Dockery, age 78 of Cleveland. Mr. Dockery passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Monday, October 1, 2012 from Testnatee Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Clark and Rev. Dana Young officiating, interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Dockery was born on January 7, 1934 in Lumpkin County the late William Webster Dockery and Florence Nix Dockery. He worked for many years with Ames Textiles and was a longtime member of Testnatee Baptist Church. He was a man who had a kind spirit and always had a pleasant word those he met.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Andrews,Odell Jones and Viola Dockery as well as brothers, H.R.Dockery, Earl Dockery and Curvin Dockery.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce McGuire Dockery of Cleveland, sons and daughters in law, Greg and Jeslyn Dockery of Cleveland and Tim and Tricia Dockery of Cleveland; sisters, Mildred Harkins, Cleveland, Bernice Winn of Blairsville and Minnie Lou Head of Dahlonega;brothers, Homer Dockery, Dahlonega and Doug Dockery, Demorest grandchildren, Matthew Dockery, Jed Dockery and Megan Dockery.

The family will receive friends at funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm
