Mr. Jack Herrington, age 80, of Buford, GA passed away Thursday, November 01, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ollie Mae Herrington; son, Sgt. Chris Herrington; brother, Frank Herrington; sister and brother in law, Dolphus and Christine Davis; brother in law, Meareal Bagley. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Verlon Davis Herrington of Buford, GA; son and daughter in law, Danny and Karen Herrington, Buford, GA; grandson and granddaughter in law, Joshua and Sarah Herrington, Buford, GA. three great grandchildren, Zoey Herrington, Ava Herrington and Jack Herrington; brother and sister in law, Larry and Wanda Herrington, Bethlehem, GA; brother in law and sister in law, Harold and Nell Davis, sisters in law and brother in law, Olwen Bagley and Genevieve and Edward Breedlove.
Mr. Herrington was born July 4, 1932 in Buford, GA and graduated from Buford High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he suffered a stroke in his twenties, but went on to complete four years of Bible College at Gwinnett Hall Baptist Bible College. He was a charter member of Rest Haven Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, led singing and sang in the choir for many years. He retired from Gwinnett County after twenty-eight years of service.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Landy McDaniel and Pastor Joshua Herrington officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA.
