Louis Clayton Clark, Jr.

Louis Clayton Clark, Jr., 84, of Dawsonville, GA (formerly of East Atlanta and East Point) died on November 15, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Atlanta, GA on August 7, 1928, he was the son of the late Louis Clayton Clark, Sr. and Odessa Clark.

He grew up in the Capitol View area of Atlanta and attended Boys High. Clayton earned his BS and MAT at Emory University. He served in the US Army for 2 years, posted to Germany during the Korean War. On August 21, 1955 he married Eleanor Jane Brown.

Clayton taught high school math for over 40 years at West Fulton High School, Headland High School, Briarwood High School and Fayette County High School. He also taught at Clayton State University for two years. Over the years, he was a member of several Methodist Churches -- Martha Brown UMC, East Point UMC and Cumming First UMC for the past 15 years.

Following retirement, he moved to Dawson County where he and Jane enjoyed traveling extensively through the US and Europe. Clayton was a talented woodworker and carpenter for his family and friends. He also loved all sports and was an avid tennis player all of his adult years.

Clayton is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Clark of Dawsonville, GA; children, Melanie (Jeff) Godwin of Cumming, GA, John Robert (Marcella Pabros) Clark of Los Angeles, CA, James Clark of Canton, GA and Paul (Cassie Maher) Clark of Atlanta, GA; family friend, Willie Hawkins of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Meredith (Andrew) Chupp of Bloomington, IL, Kate Godwin of Louisville, KY and Valerie Godwin of Cumming, GA; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Clayton Chupp and Laura Elizabeth Chupp.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2012 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow on Tuesday, November 20 at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18 from 4:00
