Nettie Abernathy Kemp

Nettie Abernathy Kemp, age 85, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012.

She was born August 12, 1927 in White County to her parents, Martin L. and Louisa Abernathy.

She was employed by Owen Osborne for 16 years, and retired after 30 years of employment from Leece Neville. She was a long time member of South Bend United Methodist Church.

After retirement, she stayed active with church activities and enjoyed playing Rook for many years of Saturdays with her friends Vivian, Wanna, and Bernice

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Myrtle Abernathy, Madleane Holland, and Lois Dispain, and a brother Vernon Abernathy. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Ann Kemp.

Survivors include; her brother, Phillip Turner of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Elizabeth Kemp of Clarkesville, Steve and Retha Kemp of Oakwood; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; Darlene and Joey Terrell and their children Joey Jr. and Katie of Clarkesville; Meredith and Petrit Llesh, and their children Klara, Martin, and Aleksander of Tirana, Albania; grandson Jonathan and Malissa Kemp and their children Bradley and Emma of Marietta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00am at South Bend United Methodist Church. Rev. Mike Bochert and Rev. Richard Long will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, both those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to South Bend United Methodist Church.
