Murrel Harper Southerland

Funeral services for Murrel Harper Southerland, age 95, of Clarkesville will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, Georgia.

Mrs. Southerland died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Habersham Home East.

Born in Mt. Airy, GA on July 12, 1917 Mrs. Southerland was the daughter of the late Harrison and Myrtle Harrison Clark and she was raised in the home of Alma Allen Harper. Mrs. Southerland was retired from Clarkesville Mill and she was a beautician and a homemaker. She was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Southerland is preceded in death by her husband Willie G. Southerland and sisters Nelle Arrendale and Ethel Hunt.

Survivors include daughters and sons in law Gail and Chaplain Bron Forrester of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Martha and Morris Byers of Laurenburg, North Carolina, son Donald Southerlamd of Atlanta, sister Katherine Mosely of Nashville, Tennessee, special friend Thelma Elrod of Demorest, grandchildren Steve Forrester (Tammy), Karen Forrester, Lisa Coleman (Scott), Donna Adams, Michael Byers (Heather), and Matthew Byers (Jennifer), and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
