Mrs. Carzell McDonald Thompson VanHook, age 88 of Demorest, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Murphy, North Carolina on November 06, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Alonzo and Della Carroll McDonald. Mrs. VanHook was a member of the Oakey Mountain Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Morris Thompson, second husband, Roger A. VanHook, sons, Morris Caney Thompson, Nathan Condon Thompson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Thompson English & Jimmy English, Demorest, GA; granddaughters, Anna English Cahill, Demorest, GA; Cindy Kay Ewalt, Marrietta, IL; grandson, Caney Jim English, Demorest, GA; great-grandchildren, Alex English, Daniel English, Maverick English, Jesse English, Mason Ewalt, brother, Tommy McDonald, Forest Park, GA; sisters, Willie Mae Weaver, Dillard, GA; Shirley Keller, Clarkesville, GA; many nieces, nephews, & friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Pastor Brion Williams and Mr. Alex English officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Rabun Memory Park in Clayton, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday.
