Mrs. Carolyn Owens, age 92, of Buford, GA and the Ivy Creek Community passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Steve Owens; husband, Frank Hatcher; stepdaughter, Jean Duffy; and step grandson, Billy Alexander.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Richard Tyler, Buford, GA; step son, Joe Hatcher and wife, Barbara Hatcher, Helen, GA; grandchildren, Brett and Andi Tyler, Cumming, GA, Kelli and Christopher Wilson, Peachtree City, GA, Frank Hatcher, Athens, GA, Jerolyn Smith, Woodstock, GA and Jeanine Alexander, Colorado; five great grandchildren; my chosen brother, Doug Fox and wife, Jamie Fox, Dacula, GA; my chosen sisters, Diana Matenje, Buford, GA and Kim Lamb, Auburn, GA; cousins, Michael Dixon, Americus, GA and Deanna Gaither, California; and niece, Sandi Gayle Beall and husband, Alan Beall, Savannah, GA. Mrs. Owens was born April 22, 1920 in Concord, GA. She was a graduate of Sly County High School in Sly County, GA and she attended Americus Business College.
She was the retired owner of Hatcher Paving Company and Asphalt Plant in Conley, GA. She was a member of the Buford Chapter of Eastern Star. She was a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford, GA where she was former president of the Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
A Celebration of Life and Rebirth Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ivy Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ferguson and Pastor Craig Dale officiating.
Interment will follow at Ivy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Buford, GA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
