Betty Alice (Gossman) Finney

Mrs. Betty Alice (Gossman) Finney, 78 of Hoschton, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born September 27, 1934 in Homestead, Florida, Betty was a Florida native and long-time resident of south Florida. She raised her family in Miami and spent many wonderful years in the fabulous Florida Keys. For the last thirteen years, Betty resided in Blairsville and Hoschton, Georgia. Betty was a lover of adventure and enjoyed travel, camping, cooking (world's best hushpuppies), fishing, boating, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Betty is remembered by all for her kindness, enthusiasm, honesty and loving nature.

She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Lillian Gossman. She was retired after many years of service in the administrative offices of the Dade County School System and was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Robert W. Finney, Hoschton; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Alan Najjar, Buford; son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Elisha Finney, Hillsborough, CA; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jessica and Jamie Kubat, Birmingham, AL; and grandsons, Jeffrey Najjar, Miami, FL; Evan Finney and Clint Finney, Hillsborough, CA. Betty is also survived by three sisters: Doris Altimari, Carol Brittain, and Trisha Coyle. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Gainesville First United Methodist Church Chapel 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville GA 30506. Dr. Terry Walton will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 115, Gainesville, GA 30501.
