William Joel Willis

William Joel Willis, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Bell Minor Home following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Memorial Park South Mausoleum. The Reverend Quinton Mills and Reverend Wayne Hicks will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.


Mr. Willis was born December 29, 1932 in Franklin County, GA to the late Willie Woodrow Willis and the late Eunice Whitworth Willis. He was a member of Free Chapel Worship Center and was retired from Steelworks. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Mr. Willis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Willis of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Annette Willis of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Wanda Willis of Flowery Branch; grandson, Bart Willis of Jefferson; granddaughter, Jessica Myers of Hoschton; granddaughter, Kristina Willis of Gainesville; granddaughter, Daphaney Willis of Gainesville; great-grandson, Landon Wilson Myers of Hoschton; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Jane Willis of Jefferson; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jim Yeoman of Flowery Branch.
