William Arthur Chastain

William Arthur Chastain, age 70 of Cornelia, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in White County on December 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Barnett and Dora Mae Adams Chastain. Mr. Chastain was retired from Schnadig with 20 years of service as a truck driver and was a member of Good News Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed automotive work, cutting grass, rocking on his front porch, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chastain was preceded in death by grandson, Connor Andrew Dyer; brothers, James Chastain and Howard Chastain; and sisters, Emily Bloodworth, Sarah Brooks, and Brenda Chastain.

Survivors include loving wife of 51 years, Diane Erwin Chastain of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy & Jeff Crane, Michele & Shawn Chitwood, Sheree & Brian Irvin all of Cornelia, Melanie & Bryan Dyer of Clarkesville, and Daphnie & Michael Barron of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Laren Chastain of Cornelia; granddaughter, who was raised in the home, Katrina Ansley of Cornelia; 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Coleman Chastain of Sautee; sisters, Bethina Bacon of Suwannee, Jewell Brookshire of India Atlantic Beach, FL, and Joan Cole of Kleen, TX; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Level Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Sanford Kimbrell, Rev. Brian James and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 pm Sunday and 2-4 & 6-9 pm Monday.
