Elaine Yankee Harber

Mrs. Elaine Yankee Harber, age 76 of Commerce died Friday, February 15, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Harber was born in Rome, GA to the late, Richard Murrell Yankee, Sr. and Helen Bryan Yankee. Mrs. Harber was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, GA, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she also continued to manage Commerce Drug after the death of her husband Sonny, until she sold the store.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harber was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Harber, Jr.

Mrs. Harber is survived by her son, Dr. James J. Harber, III (Jeanne) of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Helen Harber Singer (Christopher) of Atlanta; brother, Richard Murrell Yankee, Jr.(Susan) of Signal Mountain, TN; three grandchildren, Cecelia Harber, Alex and Ben Singer.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 11:00 AM from the Commerce Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tom Lewis officiating with a private family burial held earlier.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 5-7 PM from Mrs. Harber's house: 401 Delia Dr. Commerce, GA 30529.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jackson County Food Bank or the Jackson County Habitat for Humanity.
