James (Jimmy) Sumner

Funeral services for James "Jimmy" Sumner, age 76 of Baldwin will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Grace - Calvary Episcopal Church. The Reverend Dena S. Bearl will officiate and the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Mr. Sumner died February 17, 2013 following an extended illness.

Born March 4, 1936 in Dade City, Florida, Mr. Sumner was the son of the late Robert L. and Dessie Lee Poston Sumner. Mr. Sumner was an entrepreneur having spent much of his career in real estate sales. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sumner is preceded in death by daughters Diane Elaine Sumner and Amy Josephine Sumner, and brother Robert Dennis Sumner.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Elsie McKinstry Sumner of Baldwin, sons James Scott Sumner of Tampa, Florida, Kevin Dean Sumner (Stacey) and Louis Todd Sumner (Beverly) of Dade City, Florida, Gregory Chadwick Sumner (Leslie) of Snellville, and daughter Kristin Sumner Gaffney (John) of Atlanta. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Christopher Sumner, Cody Sumner, Trent Sumner, Ryan Sumner, Sarah Sumner, Laurel Sumner, Ally Sumner, Grant Gaffney, and Ian Gaffney, as well as sister Betty Sumner Filley of Dade City, Florida.

Funeral services and interment will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City, Florida, on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
