James Richard Lesley

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 10, 2013

James Richard Lesley, 73 of Tiger GA passed away on Sunday March 10th 2013. He was born in Coral Gables Florida and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Glenn Lesley. He is survived by his wife Diane B. Lesley, son Captain William R. Lesley and wife Sara, two grandchildren Anna and Blake Lesley all of FT Bragg NC, and daughter Julie Lesley of the home. He is also survived by his two brothers Glenn Lesley and wife Carole of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Don Lesley and wife Cindi of Seneca, South Carolina.

He was a graduate of Darlington School in Rome GA. He attended Washington and Lee University and The Georgia Institute of Technology. He was the president of AID Corporation from 1967 until 1985. From 1987 until 2001 he was vice president and co-owner of Toccoa Wood Products. After he retired he returned to work for Northeast Georgia Heating and Air in sales.

He was an active member of Rotary for a number of years and was a founding member of the Clayton Rotary Spring Team Tournament, and served as chairman in 1982. He was instrumental in the development of the recreation department's challenger league softball and basketball programs for handicapped adults and children. He was a member of the Clayton First United Methodist Church for 64 years.

The Family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Tuesday March 12th from 10:30AM to 12:00 Noon. Services will follow at Clayton First United Methodist Church at 1:00PM with the Reverend Hal Brady officiating. Burial will be at Rabun Memorial Park.
