Betty 'Jane' Duke Segars

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Betty "Jane" Duke Segars, 81, of Jefferson Ga., who passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Mrs. Segars was born in Jefferson, Ga. a daughter of the late Dave and Lollie Lyle Duke. Mrs. Segars was a graduate of Martin Institute in Jefferson, Ga. After graduation, Mrs. Segars worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington D.C.

She married Charles Segars from Arcade and they spent the next 30 years as a military couple. They retired from military service and returned to Jefferson where Mrs. Segars was the owner of Jane's Flower Shop in the Arcade area of Jackson County. Mrs. Segars was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church, a member of the Women's Club of Jefferson and a member of the Jefferson Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Segars was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Charles Henry Segars and her brothers Nay, David, Bill and sisters Lillian, Louise and Mildred.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Sandi and Ronnie Williamson, Braselton, Ga. son and daughter in law, John Segars and Donna Gessell, Jefferson, Ga. brother and sister in law, Jack and Dot Duke, Jefferson, Ga., grandchildren, Tyler Williamson and Amanda Frye.

Funeral services will be Wednesday March 20, 2013 at Jefferson First United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Chris Laskey and Minster Tom Plank officiating. Interment will follow at Redstone Methodist Church. Those honored as pallbearers will be Doug Duke, Dave Duke, Gary McCroskey, Tony Duke, Billy Duke and Andy Garrison. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home on Tuesday March 19, 2013 from 6 until 8 P.M.
