Waymon Chester Elrod

Waymon Chester Elrod, age 89 of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, April 07, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born September 13, 1923 in Habersham County, he was the son of the late George Lee and Virginia Palmer Elrod. Mr. Elrod was a member of Return Baptist Church and was retired from Globe Oil as a service station operator. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Elrod was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Coalley Elrod; son, Daryl Elrod; sisters, Lela Coffee, Eula Church, Rilla Coalley, Ola Gabrels and Fannie Tench; brothers, Wiley Elrod, Lester Elrod, Dewey Elrod and Roger Elrod. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Ronnie Loudermilk of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Angie Elrod of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 09, 2013, at Return Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Vandiver officiating. Interment will follow in Return Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and from 6-8 pm Monday.
