David Dorsey Hix

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. David Dorsey Hix age 72, of Jefferson, who passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Mr. Hix was born in Madison County, Ga., son of the late Buford Hix and Lottie Williams Hix McElroy. Mr. Hix was a veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Hornet. Mr. Hix retired from General Times in Athens, Ga. as a machinist. Mr. Hix was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hix was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Peggy Collins Hix.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday April 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike McLemore and Minister Tom Plank officiating.

Interment will follow at Jackson Memorial Park with those honored as pallbearers being, Shane Cobb, Tommy Horne, Scott Williams, Nelson Brock, Buster Shirley, Chris Shirley, Jake Shirley and Lee Brock. The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 9, 2013 from 5 until 8 PM at Evans Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Neta Payne Hix, Jefferson, Ga., 3 daughters, Jenni (Steve) Cunningham, Rome, Ga., Dana (Bud) Kinney, Talmo, Ga., and Gail (Ricky) Messer, Winder, Ga., Sister, Wanda (Larry) Horne, Commerce, Ga., Grandchildren, Kevin Kinney, Kaitlin and John David Cunningham, Austin Messer, Ched and Charlie McClure and a number of other relatives.
