Inez Stephens

Inez Stephens, 83 of Gainesville, Ga., passed away on April 26, 2013.


Born to Jessie and Speaker Strickland in Rome, GA, Inez was one of three loving daughters. Inez was a graduate of Howard High School (Tennessee, Class of 1948). She then went on to further her education at Phyllis Wheatley School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio. After completing her studies, Inez then pursued a successful career as a nurse at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for 35 years and for the State of Georgia for 11 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed serving as a caregiver while taking on numerous hobbies such as crocheting and crossword puzzles. Inez can best be remembered for her dedication to the church and her enduring faith in Christ.


She is preceded in death by husband Thomas Stephens (Gainesville, GA), sister Mary Puckett (Prince Frederick, Maryland), and son Jeffrey "Pee Wee" Crawford (Gainesville, GA).She is survived by sister Sara Edwards (Rome, GA), son Theodore "Skip" Strickland (Gainesville, GA), daughter Alta Crawford (Stone Mountain, GA), two grandsons Rafeal Crawford (Atlanta, GA) and Ronnie L. Turner & Stephanie Turner (wife) (Gainesville, GA); two granddaughters Theda Strickland (Cartersville, GA) and Michelle "Tammye" Strickland (Cartersville, GA); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, Stephens family, and loved ones.


Wake Services will be held Friday May 3, 2013 from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 4, 2013 11 am at the Antioch Baptist Church, 1010 Mill St. Gainesville, Ga. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
