James (Jim) Coolidge Barr

Funeral services for James "Jim" Coolidge Barr, age 88, of Demorest will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from the Fairfield Baptist Church. Dr. Keith Allison will officiate with interment to follow the service in Harvest Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Barr died May 6, 2013.

Born on July 20, 1924 in Troy, Alabama, Mr. Barr was the son of the late William C. and Pauline Harrison Barr. Mr. Barr was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II under Gen. George S. Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. Jim was a self employed Landscape Contractor and he was a deacon for 40 years at his home church back in Texas. He was currently a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barr is preceded in death by his first wife Wanza Jean Barr, brother Ralph Barr and sisters Myrtle Simon, Mildred Helms, and Minnie Cunningham. Jim was the last member of his immediate family.

Survivors include wife, Melba Louise Black Barr of Demorest, son and daughter in law James Rick and Itzaga Barr of Plano, Texas and son Jerry Don Barr of San Angelo, Texas and grandson James Anthony Barr of Plano, Texas.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
