Royce Allen Gunter

Royce Allen Gunter, age 75 of Athens, GA passed away Wednesday, May 07, 2013.

Born on February 13, 1938, he was a son of the late Ray and Grovie Frady Gunter. Mr. Gunter was a manager with Days Inn in Athens, GA and was of the Christian faith. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as fishing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gunter was also preceded in death by daughters, Marilyn McAllister and Linda Lee; great grandchild, Kylen Stamey; brother, Jackie Gunter.
Survivors include former wife, Lonia Gunter of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Gary Free of Clarkesville, Nikki and Keith Pritchard of Gainesville and Stacy and Ronnie Freeman of Clarkesville; daughter, Carolyn Wade of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Janice McAllister of Cornelia; brothers, Jerry Gunter and Earl Gunter of Cleveland; sisters, Mary Fortenberry of Cleveland, Sue Hall of Elberton, Sandra Ambrose of Fort Mill, SC, Brenda Abernathy of Panama City Beach, Florida and Barbara Savage of Lula; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; extended family, Chandra and Tara Bhakta and children of Athens.

Funeral services are 4:00 pm Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Garvis Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Thursday.
