Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland, announces the death of Rev. Curtis Wayne Norton, Sr., age 72 of Cleveland. Rev. Norton passed away Friday, May 17, 2013.
A celebration of life for Rev. Norton is sceduled for 2:00pm, Sunday, May 19, 2013 from Cleveland United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom McElroy, Rev. Richard Petry and Rev. Richard Moeller officiating.
Rev. Norton was born on June 14, 1940 in Tampa, Florida to the late Rev. Daniel Norton and Myrtle Snaire Norton. He graduated from Milton High School and was a 1967 graduate of The Candler School of Theology. Following his graduation, Rev. Norton served in appointments with the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church for some 34 years until his retirement in 2002. In 2006 Rev. Norton moved to Cleveland where he was active in the Cleveland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Bushnell Norton of Cleveland; son, Curtis Wayne Norton Jr. of Apopka, FL., daughter, Catherine Norton Plunkett also of Apopka, FL.; daughter and daughter in law, Susan Norton and Tiffiny King of Orlando, FL,daughter and son in law, Terra Michelle and Steve Merrell of Cumming, son and daughter in law, Troy and Kaitlin Townsend of Pheonix, AR.; brother, Daniel W. Norton, Gainesville, 10 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew and host of cousins and many loving friends.
Viewing for Rev. Norton will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 5 to 7 pm.
