Walter L. Petering

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Walter L. Petering, age 83, of Jefferson, who passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013.

Mr. Petering was born in Higginsville, Missouri a son of the late Albert and Carrie Colson Petering. Mr. Petering was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Petering retired from Scientific Atlanta as a sheet metal fabricator with many years of service. Mr. Petering was a member of the First Christian Church of Jefferson.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Petering was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Fritz Petering and sister, Mildred Lamb.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Shumake Petering, Jefferson, Daughter Beth (Greg) Laughinghouse, Jefferson, Son, Donald (Shannon) Petering, Jefferson, grandchildren, Jason Laughinghouse and Ally Petering and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

Funeral services will be Sunday May 26, 2013 at 4:00P.M. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Robin Self, Rev. Hillier Duke and Rev. Mark Mobley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 26, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M.
