Joy Johnson Kopp, 82, of Flowery Branch ended her Long Goodbye on June 11, 2013.
Since retirement, she and her husband of 62 years, Robert, had lived at the family's log home on Lake Lanier among all their good ole stuff. She was the only child of the late Lt. Colonel James Ellis Johnson and Cornelia Parker Johnson Reeves growing up in Baxley, Ga. surrounded by a large family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Home was across from the public school, gym and ball park accommodating many activities. She loved to relive experiences. Among her favorites was the family visitation on her grandmother's porch fronting on Main Street (U.S. #1) speaking and waving to people and motorists.
Joy graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon where she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Kopp who was a student at Mercer. After five years in the business world, she opted to be a full time mom, homemaker and helpmate for her husband's career.
She lived up to her name as a Life's Blessing to her family. She loved the traditions of the Old South showing them in her mannerisms. She enjoyed reading, shopping, decorating and cross-stitch which adorned her home. Raised a Methodist, she joined her husband as a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons; Rob (Dorothy), John (Kay), Ben (Jean) and daughter, Jenna; grandson, Tripp and canine friends, Messrs. Motley and Moose; also BIL, David Kopp (Janice), SIL, Sylvia Kopp and numerous cousins and other kin. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 15, at 1:30pm at Flanigan Funeral Home-Buford with visitation one hour before and after the service.
