Mr. Jacob E. "Jake" Poole, age 84, of Lula, Georgia, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Maranatha Baptist Church, in Oakwood with interment to follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Delma Simmons, Dewayne England, Reverend Dwayne Ryals, and Reverend Rod Bell, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the funeral home.
J.E. was born July 2, 1929 and was a native of Hall County. He graduated from Gillsville High School and Served in the United States Air Corp. J.E married Sylvia Buffington, April 20, 1951. He served as a former deacon at Timber Ridge Baptist Church, Emmanual Baptist Church and Maranatha Baptist Church. He was active in the formation of Maranatha Christian Academy in Oakwood. He retired in 1992 after 37 years of service from Western Electric Company/ATT Lucent Technologies. His great love of his family and church also included his love of hunting, fishing, the outdoors and gardening. He was preceded in death by his father, Vasco Poole; brothers, Aubrey Poole and Charles Poole.
J.E. is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sylvia (Buffington) Poole of Lula; mother, Laura (Cagle) Poole; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Larry Hirt; Teresa and Dewayne England, Sherry and Steve Dunn, Kristi and Skye Perry all of Gainesville; Lisa and Doug Segars of Mebane, NC; Frieda and Delma Simmons of Lula; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Deborah Poole of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Austin, Natalie, Amy, Niki, Brandon, Jaclyn, Chelsea, Abby, Caroline, Tyler, Madison, David, Danielle, Gina and Robin; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Brother, Bobby Poole and Special friends, W.L. Stargel and Tom and Wyldene Raden.
