George Canada

Obituary Date: Saturday, July 13, 2013
Mr. George Canada, 87, of Gainesville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2013 following an extended illness.

Mr. Canada was born October 21, 1925 in Gainesville, Ga to the late Stephen and Etta Cook Canada. He grew up and lived in the New Holland Community until joining the United States Marine Corp. in 1944 where he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC.

After his service ended he returned to Gainesville where he attended trade school obtaining the education and skills needed for a carpenter. For the next 50 years he
worked as a residential builder, building many homes within Hall County and surrounding counties. He attended Spoken Word Church in
Lula, GA. He loved the Lord, and always talked to whomever he met about the goodness of the Lord. He enjoyed playing the guitar, song
leading and singing with his wife in his church for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Etta Cook Canada; his wife, Hazel McCrary Canada; sisters, Fannie Bell Wade, Cozetta Wood, Gwendolyn Crumley and Leavenell Canada; brothers, Mauldin Canada, Victor Canada, Andrew Canada, Harmon Canada, Edward Canada and Mack Canada.

Survivors include daughters: Deborah Jones, Sharon Senart, Anna Quinn, daughter and son-in law Esther and Tony Smallwood, son and
daughter-in-law Joel and Pam Canada, son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Rachel Canada, son and daughter-in-law Jon and Jenny Canada; seven
grand children known to them affectionately as Papa George; three great grand children; sister-in-law, Lois Lee, Dahlonega, GA and many
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2013 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home
