Rev. James William Holden

Rev. James William Holden, age 61 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his residence.




Born in Rabun County on June 01, 1952, he was a son of the late Sam L. and Irene Tyler Holden. Rev. Holden was a school bus driver with the Habersham County School System and a member of New Birth Baptist Church. He was ordained into the ministry on January 18, 1992. Rev. Holden was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and camping.




In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Michele Holden; brother, Carlton Holden; and sisters, Betty Sue Holden and Judy Richards.

Surviving are wife of 36 years, Dianne Loggins Holden of Cornelia; son, Bronson of Alto; sisters, Gennell Looney of Toccoa, Patsy (Thurmond) Gibson of Baldwin, Elma Jean (Wayne) Simpson of Cornelia, Reba (Angus) Hunter of Clarkesville, Martha Cook of Toccoa, and Lynn Bloomfield of Mt. Airy, NC; brothers, Charles (Vickie) Holden of Demorest, Buster (Pam) Derrick of Springfield, IL and Andy (Genda) Derrick of Clarkesville; many nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives also survive.




Funeral services are 11:00 am Thursday, July 18, 2013, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Bill Free and Rev. Bill Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in the Pickett Cemetery, Clayton, GA.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Wednesday.
