John Thomas Sewell

John Thomas Sewell, age 85, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.


Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Sewell was born May 22, 1928 in Carnesville, Georgia to the late Henry and Francis Boyd Sewell. He was a member of Melvin Hill AME Church. Mr. Sewell is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida Mae Bell Sewell; two brothers and daughter, Shirley Craft.


Mr. Sewell is survived by his sister, Sallie Mae (Charles) Hayes of Toccoa; sister, Nellie Mae Brown of Toledo, OH; daughter, Suzanne (Kerry) Jones of Jonesboro; daughter, Jeraldine Jenkins of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Tommie Jean Sewell of Gainesville; son, Michael (Deborah) Sewell of Gainesville; son, Jerry (Tina) Sewell of Oakwood; daughter, Rosemary Watson of Gainesville and son, John Edward (Lisa) Sewell of Braselton.
