Edith Brown Cato

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 4, 2013
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 8, 2013 in the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Edith Brown Cato age 92 of Gainesville. The Rev. David McLendon and Rev. Richard Merck will officiate. Interment will follow in Harmony Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Cato passed away Sunday August 4, 2013.



Edith was born in Jackson County to the late Ernest and Neva Brown on January 6, 1921. She worked for Gem Jewelry Company for 25 years. Edith was a life long member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 60+ years. Her life was a living testimony to Christ.



Edith was preceded in death by her husband John T. Cato, Sr. and son James Steven Cato, brothers, Boyce Brown and Ernest L. Brown, Jr. and sister Opal Brown Cotton.



Edith is survived by son John Thomas Cato, Jr. and daughter Lynda Cato Gastley, daughter-in-laws Nettie Smith Cato and Rachel Stowers Cato, son-in-law Joseph Edward Gastley, 8 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew.



In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund of Harmony Hall Baptist Church 4160 Mangum Mill Rd, Gainesville, GA 30507.
