Hortense Hughes

Mrs. Hortense Hughes age 90 of Gainesville passed away on Monday August 05, 2013 at Gold City Nursing Home in Dahlonega, Ga. following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday August 07, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Marvin Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 07, 2013 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hughes was born on November 19, 1922 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Spurgen Thomas and Mary Lou McGee Thomas. She was a Homemaker and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents.



She is survived by her husband, Alton Hughes of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Donald G. and Barbara Hughes of Gainesville, brother, Dennis Thomas of Loganville, grandchildren, Alan and Renee Hughes, and Emileigh and Michael Greene, great- grandchildren, Catherine Hughes, Harrison Hughes and Harper Greene.
