Doyl Gene Ashley

Doyl Gene Ashley, age 78 of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Gill officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 11:00am-1:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service.


Mr. Ashley was born November 20, 1934 in Fort Payne, Alabama to the late Rev. Harrison Dewey Ashley and Zella Mae Spears Ashley. He was retired from Sun Rise Home Builders as a Superintendent and was a member of the Masonic Fyffe Lodge #697. Mr. Ashley was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Joann Pertree Ashley.


Mr. Ashley is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Mack & Ann Ashley and Richard & Rhonda Ashley, all of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa & Troy Baker of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt and Helen Ashley of Fort Payne, Alabama; brother-in-law and wife, Dennis & Carolyn Pertree of Ft. Payne, Alabama, grandsons; Payton and Taylor Baker and granddaughters; Gina Kessler, Nicolette Ashley, Haley Ashley and Hannah Adams.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Challenged Child and Friends, Inc., 2360 Murphy Blvd, Gainesville, GA 30504.
