Edward Lawrence Liebhauser, Sr.

Funeral services for Edward Lawrence Liebhauser, Sr., age 88, of Clarkesville will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2013, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville with Father José Luis Hernández-Ayala presiding. Interment will be at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Cemetery following the service.

Mr. Liebhauser died on August 26, 2013, at Habersham County Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Port Monmouth, New Jersey on October 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Charles and Theresa Liebhauser. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Liebhauser, and a brother, Commander Charles Liebhauser, USN. Mr. Liebhauser retired from the Dade County Public Schools, Miami, FL, where he was a public school administrator. He was a life member of the VFW Post 7720 where he was commander of the honor guard and an officer. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of the First Marine Division Association. Mr. Liebhauser served as a Boy Scout and a Scout Leader for 65 years. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St Mark Council 13491. He graduated from Seton Hall University and had a Master's Degree from Florida Atlantic University. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Audrey Liebhauser, daughter Patricia Liebhauser of Atlanta, daughter Kathryn Murphey and husband Milledge of Gainesville, FL, son Edward Liebhauser Jr. and wife Karen of Huntington Beach, CA, son Keith Liebhauser and wife Lori of Sumner, WA, and grandchildren Dylan, Cory and Carly.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 7-9 PM with rosary at 8 PM.
