Marvin Turk

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 3, 2013




Marvin Turk, age 85 of Oakwood, passed away Tuesday, September 03, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Phil Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Turk was born December 17, 1927 in Helen, GA to the late Joseph Talmage Turk and the late Lela Mae Chandler Turk. His family moved to Chicopee, GA where he grew up. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He retired from Chicopee Manufacturing with 42 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood. Mr. Turk was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth W. Turk and his brothers, William "Bill" Turk, Frank Turk and Hugh K. Turk.

Mr. Turk is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Mike Parker of Oakwood; grandchildren, Alana and Dr. Braxton Turner of Gainesville; Josh and Heather Parker of Flowery Branch; Jon and Katie Parker of Flowery Branch; great grandchildren, Bailey Turner, Taylor Turner and Luke Turner of Gainesville; Zoe Parker, Hadley Parker and Preston Parker of Flowery Branch; sister, Helen McDonald of Chestnut Mountain; sisters-in-law, Barbara Turk of Gainesville and Bonnie Turk of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Peachtree Plantation Staff and Caregivers for all the love and support for the last 2 years.
