George Flemon Shirley, Jr.

George Flemon Shirley, Jr., age 86 of Gainesville, passed away early Friday Morning, October 4, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Bradley Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 12 - 2, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Shirley was born December 9, 1926 in New Holland, Georgia to the late George Flemon Shirley, Sr. and Phena Cheek Shirley. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WW II, also served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Sargent 1st Class. George was the owner/operator of George's Janitorial Service and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Fred, Ralph, O. P., Vick, Alvin, Gene and Robert Shirley and one sister, Sarah Shirley Patterson.
Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanene Shirley of Gainesville, daughter & son-in-law, Elaine & John Nalley of Gainesville, grandsons, John G. Nalley, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina and George L. Nalley of Atlanta, sister & brother-in-law, Lucille & Ralph Carter of New Holland and brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy & Peggy Shirley of Lula.
