J. Tobey Wright

J. Tobey Wright, age 71, of Hollingsworth Community, Alto, Georgia passed Thursday, October 9, 2013.

He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 13, 1942. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his father, John Charles Wright and mother, Mildred Duncan Wright Jamison. He received his B.S. degree in Forestry from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Wright was a member of both The Society of American Foresters and Forest Land Owners. He retired from Larson and McGowin Forest Managers and Consultants where he served as Executive Vice President for a number of years, and was a former owner of Pomery and McGowin in Monticello, AR. He was formerly employed with Davis Forestry in Monticello, AR and a past ACF President. The PFIT Scholarship is named in his honor. Mr. Wright was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monticello, AR.

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, June Morrison Wright, Hollingsworth Community, Alto; sister, Charlene Wright, Austin, TX; half-brothers, Charlie Wright, DeLand FL and Joe Wright, Lamar, MS; step-sister, Sandy Oglesby, TN; brother-in-law, Jimmy Morrison; sisters-in-law, Janice Yarber and Joanna Wilbanks, all of Hollingsworth; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia with Rev. David Turner officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour, on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the funeral home.
