Alice Marie Batten White

Obituary Date: Wednesday, October 16, 2013
Mrs. Alice Marie Batten White, 74, of Albany died October 16, 2013 at Phoebe North in Albany, GA surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday 2 PM at First Baptist Church of Albany. Rev. Keith Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Atkinson Co., GA, Mrs. White has lived in Albany since 1960 where she was a long time member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. White, held positions in the banking, legal and insurance fields and volunteered at Palmyra Park Hospital now known as Phoebe North as a "Pink Lady" for many years. She graduated Valedictorian from Atkinson County High School and graduated from Darton College in 1982 and Albany State College in 1984 with a BBA degree. Mrs. White loved gardening, flowers, fishing and cooking for her family and will always be remembered as an extremely loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Survivors include her daughter, Anne Marie Bishop of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren, Sam Bishop, Elizabeth Bishop and Emily Bishop, sister, Mildred Deen and her husband Bob of St. Mary's, GA, brothers, Ralph Batten and his wife Jan of St. Mary's, GA, Aubrey Batten and his wife Sandra of Ambrose, GA, Clinton Batten and his wife Chery of Pearson , GA and Herman Batten and his wife Laverne of Tifton, step-children, Dr. William B. White of California, Pattie Feagans of Albany and Cheryl Parrish of Snellville, GA, 4 step grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ward (Bob) White and her brother, Walter Batten.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church.
