Charles Clifton "Buck" Black

Charles Clifton "Buck" Black, age 86, of Cleveland and formerly of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born on October 22, 1926 in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Florence English Black. Mr. Black was retired from Ethicon with 51 years of service and was a member and deacon at Victory Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran having served on the front lines during WWII in the Philippines. In his spare time Mr. Black enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Black was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Flora Nell Colston Black: sisters, Florence Colston, Belle Jones, Pauline Groves, Virginia Humphries, Geneva Groves and Ethel Jones.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Don and Tina Black of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Ethan and Caroline Black both of Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Black of Demorest; sister, Ladelle B. Goss of Clarkesville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Kelley and Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Mr. Black will lie in state at the church from 1:30 pm until the service hour on Sunday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard. All family and friends are requested to gather at the church by 1:15 pm on Sunday.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
