Madeline B. Akins "Blondie", age 86 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Reverend Phil Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Akins was born November 27, 1926 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Reuben Walter Bone and the late Jessie Bell Pittman Bone. She was retired from Chicopee at Buford and Avery Label and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, H.T. McGee; second husband, Lee Akins, Jr.; brothers, Thomas E. Bone and James Bone.

Mrs. Akins is survived by her son, Jerry L. McGee of Flowery Branch; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Amos Stover of Gillsville; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Betty Bone of Anderson, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and J. Lamar Grier of Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Winnie and Jack Gresham of Piedmont, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vera Bone of Travelers Rest, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Mira and Dennis Eubanks of Greenville, SC; friend, neighbor and care giver, Betty Williams of Oakwood; a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
