Martha Geraldine Mathis

Mrs. Martha Geraldine Mathis, age 90, of Commerce, GA died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Commerce to the late Marion Fletcher and Eunice Davis Fletcher. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, James Toy Mathis; daughter, Brenda Ann Ayers and son, Thomas Eugene Mathis.

Mrs. Mathis is survived by her daughters, Betty Fleeman of Commerce and Evelyn Clark Lilly of TN; sisters, Farell Allen and Geneva Weldon both of Commerce; grandchildren, Jennie Wilbanks, Michael Clark, Brian Clark, Sharon Hill, Dean Ayers, Trent Ayers and Julie Walsh; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Friday, November 22 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Swayne Carlan officiating. Interment will follow in the Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday night from 5 to 8 PM. At the request of the family, flowers or donations to United Hospice of Gainesville will be accepted.
