John Scott Beatty

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. John Scott Beatty, age 62 of Winder, Georgia, who entered into rest Saturday, December 7, 2013. Mr. Beatty was born in Commerce, Georgia the son of the late Scott Beatty and Vera Davis Beatty Pace of Winder. During his youth, Mr. Beatty excelled in Varsity Football at Jefferson High School and was voted Outstanding Senior. Mr. Beatty served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea and Germany, attaining the rank of Sergeant and receiving numerous medals for services such as Expert Badge with Rifle Bar M-16, was a member of Oconee Baptist Church and was an Environmental Consultant with Erosion Control Services, Inc.. In addition to his father, John is preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Wiley Beatty and son, Joseph Beatty. Survivors include his mother and step-father Vera and Jerry Pace of Winder. Sons, Jamie Beatty of Homer, and John Andrew Beatty of Lawrenceville. Daughters, Nicki Evans of Winder, and Julie Clay of Buford. Father in Law, James Wiley of Homer. Brother and sister in law, Mike and Judy Beatty of Jefferson. Sister and brother in law, Jackie and Bill Nagy of Peachtree City, and numerous Nieces and Nephews along with 8 grandchildren, and 2 great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Dwayne Eller officiating with burial to follow in Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 2743 Highway 51 North, Homer, Georgia 30547. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Bruce Davis, Tony Davis, Charlie Watson, Lane Sorrow, Alex Stinchcomb, and Chance Studervant. Honorary pallbearers are David Wages, and Bill Taylor. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home 5-8 P.M. Monday, December 9, 2013. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
